As I’ve said before, I am a voracious book collector and (usually) reader as well. I love books and could spend hours reading. With a very demanding job, a wife and a young daughter, I’ve built up quite a backlog and hope to get to most of these books in the next few months. Books I am currently reading include:

Are you planning on getting CISSP certification? I see you are reading (or at least own) the CISSP book.

Hi Matt and yes — I am planning on taking it. I’m not a big fan of certifications as most of them are a joke but this one will actually help our LOB and so I am planning on doing it. Now just gotta figure a way out to expense that book ;)

I agree, most certifications are a joke, but they can help to beef up a resume. With security being the priority it is, I’ll bet the CISSP would look great on the resume. I’ll have to borrow the book when you are done. :)

:) That is true – And security is only going to be more important in the coming years, not less. I remember reading an article about 2006 IT spend and 90% of the companies responding said that they were going to double or triple their IT spend on security, compliance and regulatory issues.

I happened to run across your review of “WebLogic: The Definative Guide” on Amazon.com. It said you had to trim the review to comply with Amazon requirements and that the full version was on your blog, but I can’t find it. I realize it was a while ago when you wrote the review. Did you purge it?

I’m sure I will buy the book either way, as it seems to be the best book that I have skimmed. I just like to see what others have to say about them sometimes. Do you still think it is the best WebLogic book available or has a newer book assended to the top? I’m new to J2EE, so I’m just starting to get my feet wet. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
