Vinny,

About my last message, never mind, I found eventually the comments on Kattare's support forums that .htaccess doesn't work for Tomcat served directories. So I have a bit of study to learn how to set that up.

Cheers,

Hello Vinny,
Surprise, I too am switching from pair to Kattare for similar reasons, mainly java support. I found you on a search on "kattare htaccess" because I just set up a .htaccess and .passwd file in a directory of my kattare account, but it doesn't do anything!
I browsed Kattare's documentation first, then set out looking. Any, cheers! And I'll read more later.

Regards,

I love it - I absolutely love <a href="http://www.kattare.com/signup.kvws?ref=vscarpenter" rel="nofollow">Kattare</a> (<i>Affiliate Link</i>). I just cancelled my pair account after giving Kattare about 2 months and the service has been excellent. In addition to that standard Perl, PHP stuff, I love the fact that I have Tomcat for my Java development needs. I've got a few Java apps deployed and things are working great.

It's funny you ask but I was just about to finish a new blog entry about them that I have been working on for weeks now.

[...] I finally upgraded my blog to WordPress 2.0 a few weekend ago and am now finally getting around to blog about it. I had blogged previously about issues I had upgrading my blog software but those issues were related to some MySQL upgrade and version compatibilities. To get around the database issues, I used MySQL Administrator to backup the entire database from the old server and restored it on the new server. Not sure why that worked, but it did and didn’t create any issues. In the past, I had backed up the database using MySQL Administrator and then used the MySQL Query Browser to create the new database and insert the data. I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out the differences between the version of MySQL and the issues I had and will post a lengthy (and boring) blog entry about that in the near future.
